We have introduced “Buddhist tea,” newly planned and developed as tea exclusively for temples, as a welcome drink at TEMPLESTAY ZENSŌ.
“Buccha (Buddhist Tea)” is a sustainable green tea beverage that delivers a “cup of prayer” that is kind to the region and the planet. We use organically cultivated tea leaves nurtured at “Seitoen,” a tea plantation in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture, that has continued for over 400 years and is committed to pesticide-free organic cultivation. We also focus on deliciousness as a beverage.
The product name “Buccha” means “a cup that accompanies prayer,” rooted in the spirit of Buddhism. It embodies the concept of overlapping “the heart of Buddha = altruism” with “the spirit of living with nature,” and through introduction at temples, presents a new value that connects “prayer” with “environmental and regional contribution.”
As tea that lives with nature, the package design is themed on “symbiosis,” reflecting three messages: ・Satoyama where life circulates ・Tea plantations to protect and pass on ・Earth to connect to the future
By visualizing how nature and people, past and future circulate, we aim for a design that allows drinkers to intuitively feel their connection to the region and environment. We have also lowered the threshold between Buddhism and society, making it easy to pick up and naturally feel Buddhist teachings.
