Greeting

A Time of Uncertainty and Complexity.
That’s precisely why we need to pause, reflect, and reframe our perspectives. A temple offers the perfect opportunity to do just that.

When you hear the word Shukubō (temple lodging), what comes to mind? A strict curfew? Shojin Cousine (Buddhist vegetarian meals)? Waking up at dawn? A rigid, disciplined atmosphere?
Many people hold such impressions.

That’s why we don’t call it Shukubō—we call it \'TEMPLE STAY\'
We don’t want this temple to feel intimidating or unapproachable.
At the same time, we cherish the temple’s sacredness and traditions.
Our goal is to maintain a delicate balance—preserving the temple’s essence while creating an inviting and comfortable space for everyone.

With this vision in mind, TEMPLE STAY ZENSŌ begins.

CONCEPT

A □ (square) loses one corner and becomes a △ (triangle).
When all the corners disappear, it transforms into a ◯ (circle).

Inspired by the round window at our temple entrance, we use ◯△□ as a simple yet profound expression of Zen.

The name ZENSŌ is a fusion of ZEN (禅) and ENSO (円窓, round window), carefully crafted to embody multiple meanings.

ENSŌ symbolizes both the round window and the Zen circle of enlightenment (円相).
Meanwhile, ZENSŌ evokes the ideas of Zen monks (禅僧) and a Zen lodging (禅荘).

Throughout our space, you will find subtle yet meaningful elements of Zen and Buddhist philosophy.
This temple stay is designed to embrace simplicity, invite contemplation, and add a touch of inspiration to your journey.
