Originally, TEMPLE STAY ZENSŌ consisted of three traditional Japanese rooms (和室). However, to create a more functional and welcoming space, we decided to remove one room and convert it into something special.

What We Did:
・Removed one room and replaced it with a 土間 (earthen floor), bringing depth and spatial dimension to the interior.
・The addition of chairs and tables in the newly designed layout enhances comfort and usability.
・The bedroom area is generously sized, offering a 14-tatami (約14畳) room—spacious enough to relax and recharge.

This transformation allows for a seamless blend of Zen-inspired simplicity and modern comfort, providing both open space and functionality.　Come and experience how thoughtful design can create the perfect balance of serenity and practicality at TEMPLE STAY ZENSŌ.

A Harmonious Redesign – Creating Spacious Flow
In our ongoing commitment to enhance the comfort and functionality of TEMPLE STAY ZENSŌ, we took a thoughtful approach to reimagine the space, starting with the traditional tatami room.

What We Did:
・Removed tatami and closets (押入れ) from both sides of the room, opening up the space and introducing a more modern flow.
・Eastern side – Transformed into a workspace, offering a quiet, creative area for guests to focus and relax.
・Western side – Converted into a closet, providing ample storage for your belongings.
・This transformation has created the perfect sense of flow and openness, giving the room a wonderful spaciousness without sacrificing functionality.

The new design is a perfect balance of tradition and modern convenience, and it’s no surprise that the Vice Abbot considers this one of his favorite spaces! Come and experience the effortless harmony of this thoughtfully redesigned area during your stay at TEMPLE STAY ZENSŌ.
