Words We Hold Dear at ZENSŌ – Guiding Principles for Your Stay

When creating TEMPLE STAY ZENSŌ, we thought deeply about the values and principles that should guide our space. What words would inspire the experience we want to offer our guests? What sentiments would we like everyone to leave with?

Throughout my life, I have encountered many words that have left a lasting impact on me. Here, I’ve selected three key words that I would love our guests to understand and feel during their stay:

Serendipity
Serendipity refers to the power of happy accidents, the delightful discoveries that happen when you least expect them. At ZENSŌ, we aim to create opportunities for guests and locals to meet by chance, sparking small, beautiful stories that become the spice of the best travels. We believe that Serendipity is not just about what happens by chance, but the environment that invites those moments to unfold.

Meticulous
Meticulous speaks to the attention given to every detail, ensuring nothing is overlooked. In Japanese, we say, “God (or Buddha) resides in the details.” We pour this philosophy into every corner of ZENSŌ, ensuring that each element of your experience—whether in design, service, or atmosphere—is carefully crafted to provide you with a unique, high-quality experience that can only happen here.

Pay It Forward
This principle embodies the act of gratitude and reciprocity“paying it forward”—where the appreciation you receive is passed on to the next. Whether it’s the guests to guests, locals to guests, or guests to the community, we believe that everything is interconnected, and that cycle of gratitude creates Serendipity. It is through this continuous exchange that we nurture a positive, harmonious cycle.
