When creating this accommodation, I wondered what values we should uphold in undertaking this project. I was thinking of words that could serve as such guiding principles.
Many words I’ve encountered throughout my life. From among them, I’ve prepared three words that I want those staying at this accommodation to know and feel. Please experience the power these words hold.
Serendipity
A coined term meaning “fortuitous product” or “the power to obtain fortunate coincidences.” Guests and local people meet by chance, and the small stories born there become the best spice for travel, providing opportunities for serendipity to occur.
Meticulous
Refers to a state where attention is paid to every detail. In Japanese, it’s said that god (or Buddha?) dwells in the details. We infuse this spirit into every corner of this lodging to provide an experiential value that can only be achieved here.
Pay it Forward
Returning favors and passing them forward. All things are connected and linked. Gratitude received from guests goes to the next guests. From the community to guests, from guests to the community. Such circulation and rotation generate serendipity.
